I'm geeking out here!
I have a lot of these. I sure love the cheesiness and pomp and circumstance of the oscars.
1. Roberto Benigni's acceptance speech for Life is Beautiful, climbing over chairs, and offering to make love to us all and something about looking up into the firmament...
2. When Adrien Brody made out with Halle Berry. Yet another time I had wished I could be Halle Berry.
3. Michael Moore, how great would it have been to have DVR then? He HAD to do that...
4. When Billy Crystal was carted out at the beginning of the show in full-on Hannibal Lector mask.
5. Uma! Oprah!
that's all for now!
Oh my! And how could I have forgotten Bjork singing her nominated song from Dancer in the Dark in her swan dress? My love for this particular oscar moment is very different than conventional wisdom. Her movie slayed me. She slays me. While I don't condone the use of waterfowl for evening wear, I do think the she knew exactly what she was doing in wearing the dress, and that she is one of the foremost artists (not just musician, but ARTIST) alive today. I LOVE HER.
Jack Palance... it's ubiquitous now... but it was cool when he did it.
The Spanish song last year... Molly got all verklempt. (so did I)
