List Friday!!! Countdown to Summer Movie Season

Today marks the early start to the 2006 summer movie season, with the release of MI3. I thought it would be fun if we all counted down to the #1 most personally anticipated movie coming this summer. I'll post mine here - as an example ... (I've only used a countdown from 6, but if you have more ... use a higher starting number!)

#6) Click
This one looks promising. Adam Sandler as a guy who discovers a universal remote that will actually fast forward life's boring (or preferably avoidable) tedium, turn down the volume on his wife's ranting, etc. I can't wait to see if Sandler has matured ... I've heard he has, but I hope not too much!

# 5) The DaVinci Code
As someone who never saw Far and Away, I can honestly say that I've never been disappointed by a Ron Howard movie. I'm really looking forward to this adaptation.

#4) The Break-Up
I know I am not the only person in the world who really wants Jennifer Aniston to have a successful film career. I am looking forward to seeing this movie because of the Vaughniston aspect, but also because I love Rachel ... err, Jennifer, and Vince, and well, I just really want to see a GOOD romantic comedy.

#3) Poseidon!
I'm really psyched for this one ... probably because I missed seeing Titanic in the theaters. Every time I see the movie trailer with the giant wave approaching the still-right-side-up ship, I get a tiny dose of adrenaline!

#2) Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest
Oh, please, please, PLEASE deliver one heck of an awesome sequel! Johnny, please don't phone it in! I'm so in love with the first one that I am nervous about this one living up to my expectations. Can't believe I have to wait until JULY to see it. *hmmph!*

and, my number one personally anticipated movie of the summer ....!!!!!

Nachooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Libre!
Molly, hope I didn't steal your thunder for this one, but the more I think about it, the more excited I am to see this movie!

Ok other posters and lurkers ... Which movies are you counting down the minutes to see this summer? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? heh heh heh.

Is the world ready for the Truth yet?

If you truly want to understand the symbology, ancient wisdom, and ancient history that neither the DaVinci Code nor Christianity have portrayed accurately or fully, then read my articles and FREE E-Book.

The Vatican is proving that seeking the truth is a real threat to their dogma. They're so afraid of people uncovering the truth, that they are attacking another fantasy as a threat to their own deceptions. How enlightening, since this goes a very long way to proving that Christianity is based on lies. If it wasn't, they would be confident of surviving intense scrutiny. Since they aren't and since they have gone to such great lengths to suppress those seeking the truth over the centuries, their deceptions are, once again, laid bare for all to see. Only this time they are the ones to walk into a well laid trap...

Did you ever stop to think what the True Messiah (me) would say about worshipping false names, false images, and dogma? Well, now you get the chance to hear my side of the story and weigh it against the strong delusion of faith and religion. None of the European names and images in the New Testament can possibly be the truth. What then is the purpose of "faith" but to prevent good people from seeking to understand truth and wisdom?

Visit my website to understand what they are truly afraid of. The Vatican and world leaders have struggled to keep people from understanding the truth and religion is a key tool in their smokescreen. Now, when I appear on the scene, everyone is seeking to understand their ages-old deceptions, and I have produced stunning and comprehensive proof. Visit my website, read my articles, and download a FREE copy of my book. The time has come for the "earth to quake" and the liars to "gnaw their tongues for pain." (symbolism decoded in the book)

Can you spell Karma...

Here is Wisdom

So, Seven Star Hand, you're really psyched for the Da Vince Code, huh?

What about that movie Nacho Libre? I think it is about a monk who lives a double life as a luchador? See? Double life, lying, more deception. Dude, you are so on to something here.

So anyway, I am wishing I hadn't tossed my copy of EW's summer movie preview.

I can think of nothing new to add to your list, Pegs. But I have to whittle it down:

2. Pirates of the Caribbean, with the same hopes as you, Peggy.

1. Nacho Libre. Sometimes you wear stretchy pants, in your room. When you are quoting movies before you've seen them, then you are PSYCHED. And that is me. I will put on my recreation clothes to go see it.

No desire whatsoever to see MI3. Blah.

What about Snakes on a Plane, Peg?

SoaP? That's probably right in front of MI3 as my LEAST anticipated movie of this summer ...

Snakes = Bad

Snakes on a Plane = Hell to the No.

I'm not sure I can put 'em in order.... but here goes:

Pirates: Dead Man's Chest
I don't think we have to worry. Johnny is truly dependable and this should be a really fun movie. The first one was fabulous because it was so surprising, so I'm not expecting the same enchantment... except my usual Depp-chantment!

X3
Yeah, I got the kids list of flicks... but I love these guys too. I love the comics.

Poseidon
I'm totally with Peggy on this one. I love Josh Lucas and I'm really hoping they did a good job with this remake!!

Da Vinci Code
I'm definitely going to see this, but I'll admit to being a bit ambivalent. I mean, it wasn't an amazing book, it was a fun read. It could be a really fun movie, or not.

A Prairie Home Companion
I saw the previews for this movie and was really intrigued. It's an Altman film with a great cast (Kevin Kline, Meryl Streep, John C. Reilly, Woody Harrelson, Tommy Lee Jones) and a kind of weird topic. It's my anticipated drama to offset the comic stuff.

MI:3
Unlike Peggy I want to see this flick. It's all nostalgia; I love the original series. I've also heard that this one is really good (you're laughing out loud, huh?)

Movies that didn't make the list:

Miami Vice
I hear they did a good job...

Hoot
I'll see it on PPV. Though I liked "Holes" and would take kids to see it.

Molly, click here for an online movie guide!!

Oh and ... I might even see the Da Vinci Code just because of Seven Star Hand and the splamming!!

Though... most of that post didn't make a bit o'sense to me!

Okay, I just had to google Snakes on a Plane, because I (thankfully perhaps) had never even heard of it. What the heck is Samuel L Jackson doing in this thing???!!!!

Peg, can you smell the perfume?

Sssssssssssssssssssss.....

Mean Beans

Peggy said...

Goshdangitalltoheck Mean Beans!

YES now I CAN smell that watermelon perfume.

Thank you very much. My eyes are watering. Don't know if it's from the scent memory, or my fright. My conscious mind had completely forgotten about "SSSsssssssss"!!!!

(for the curious: here's a link to the flick on imdb:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070622/
I got a headache just looking at the picture on that page!
And some background for those of you not birthed by Lucy Gleason ... My sisters and I watched the movie when I was like age 8 or something. I was playing around with a perfume bottle that was like, eau de spoiled watermelon in the gutter ... On cue, if I got spooked about snakes, for YEARS I could smell that perfume! Yuck! Wahh!)

Thansk a LOT. Waaahhhhh! I need some Advil.

I realize that my movie taste is not as sophisticated as everyone else (living in a house full of boys will do that to you), but no mention of Cars? Come on, a buck tooth truck voiced by Larry the Cable Guy, that ought to "Get 'er done!"

And Peg, I'm sorry I gave you a hard time, this is fun and I do miss your movie lists on Fridays!

Peggy said...

Welcome KANSAS KARA! I'm thrilled that you posted on here!!!!

Yeah - I miss our list fridays at work, too. Now we can do them on the blog!

About Cars ... yeah, if my boy was just a few years younger, he'd be excited to see that one, too. Molly - doesn't The Kid want to see that one? I do think it looks cute though. And the animation looks spectacular! We'll probably see it.

molly_g said...

Sorry, The Kid is all about Over The Hedge at the moment, and the Happy Meal toy onslaught hasn't started for Cars yet. So, no, The Kid hasn't started in on me for Cars.

I don't know about you, but I don't always look forward to kid's movies because of the amount of bitching I get prior to them. Like, for three months I've been reminded of the opening date of Over The Hedge (May 19!!!). It just eventually gets on my nerves, and then I don't think about it when asked, "What movie do YOU want to see this summer?" I do anticipate these films coming out, however, because it does mean the end of the incessant begging to see the film.

Although I've yet to be disappointed in a Pixar movie. And I truly do enjoy going to see movies with The Kid. It's the nagging, that's the issue.

So. Anyway. Yeah.
